Pictures are a staple to the Block Island experience. With Photo Friday giving us a chance to see your great work on a weekly basis – all while giving away a ticket or two at that – we wanted to do something nice for those of you who enjoy the more common and candid shots shared between friends. The idea for Snapchat Filters was born.

Of course, there had to be more than one or two, so we commissioned a few different ideas to suit the wide variety of Block Island’s fans. You all enjoyed them so much that we might even be bringing them back in the future.

The History of the Fleet

On the blog side of things, we started delving deeper into the history of our fleet. We know everyone has their own favorite vessel for their own reasons. Odds are your first memory of that inaugural trip to Block Island is of the ferry that carried you across the water in the first place. It’s a special bond, and one that can’t be replaced or replicated.

If we haven’t covered your favorite ferry just yet, don’t worry. There’s plenty more still to come in 2018.

As always, we spend time every year at the Block Island Ferry thinking about what’s coming next. What new and exciting thing can we do to add to the enjoyment of our fans and lovers of Block Island alike? How can we keep everyone coming back with fresh smiles and even more enthusiasm than this past season?

Thanks to your support, that’s no easy task. But when we think about how important Block Island and its ferry are to our fans, we’ll settle for nothing less than the best.
